Nation celebrates National Electrification Awareness Month
Kick-off activities were held on July 11 as NEA launched the Recycling Contest, followed by the celebration of NEA Family Day on July 31.
On August 1, NEA formally opened the Rural Electrification Exhibit at the ground floor lobby which showcases some of the historical highlights, photos and trivia relating to the Rural Electrification and the pioneers of the Program. It also unveiled the enhanced “Great Wall of NEA” which displays the accomplishments of the agency through the years.
The 18th NEA-ECs Consultative Conference held on August 2 was attended by 409 representatives from 104 electric cooperatives (ECs) all over the country. The main highlight of the month-long celebration is a ceremonial Switch-on for the 9th Million Consumer Connection which will be held at the PTTC on August 3 during the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (PHILRECA) Convention. The ceremony will be graced by Energy Secretary and NEA Board Chair Jose Rene D. Almendras.
Several other activities scheduled within the month include the R.E. Games, a wellness fair, outreach program, cinema watch and women’s forum.
On August 5, NEA will celebrate its 42nd Anniversary, with the theme “NEA-ECs: Walang Hanggang Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan”. “We are very happy to be celebrating our 42nd anniversary. After all the uncertainties that we have faced, we are still here, as strong and as united as ever. Our relationship with our ECs continues to flourish and we are ready to take the challenges of the program to be able to serve our fellow Filipinos in the far flung rural areas”, said Administrator Edita S. Bueno.
The culminating activity will be a nationwide tree planting on August 31 which will be participated in by the ECs.
