The Romblon Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ROMELCO) was incorporated and registered with the National Electrification Administration (NEA) on June 14, 1989 under the provisions of PD 269.

ROMELCO was granted the franchise to operate an electric light and power service for a period of fifty (50) years in the islands of Romblon and Sibuyan by the NEA on July 11, 1991 and November 15, 1994 respectively.

As of today, ROMELCO has 50 employees from main office in Romblon, Romblon to its area offices located in the municipalities of San Fernando; Cajidiocan; Magdiwang; Banton and Corcuera, Romblon. ROMELCO has been classified by NEA as LARGE Electric Cooperative (EC) and categorized as triple A (AAA) for four (4) years straight. It has fully energized all 98 barangays within its coverage area and continuously in pursuit of energizing all the 441 sitios as part of the Rural Electrification Program by the present administration.

ROMELCO is presently sourcing its power from the National Power Corporation (NPC) - Romblon Diesel Power Plant; NPC - Power Barge 114; NPC - Power Barge 109, NPC - Sibuyan Diesel Power Plant; NPC - Corcuera Diesel Power Plant; Cantingas Mini Hydro Power Plant, and Cobrador Solar Hybrid Power Plant.

To bring the service of electricity to every household on area coverage in a reliable and efficient manner at the least cost to its member consumers.

To become a highly competent electric utility and be a catalyst for the development and industrialization of the area coverage.
